Can the Game Shark Pro be used as a Dex Drive?

Yes you can use your Game Shark Pro as a Dex Drive.Your Game Shark Pro can up load Playstation saves to your PC. The only problem is the Game Shark Pro put the saves in a .psx format. The .psx format is a format rarely used on the internet it is mainly used for backing up saves. The main format used on the internet is .gme witch is the Dex Drive format and the Game Shark Pro can't use the Dex Drive format. So now you see the dilemma but there is a solution. All you need is a little software and some hardware. For one thing you will need a Game Shark Pro of course and a 25 pin IEEE Male to Female printer cable that you can get at your local Radio Shack. Then you will need this version of the Game Shark Pro hacking utility and the key to the solution, a Playstation save converter. Once you have all of these items then you will be ready. Step one download the Dex Drive save, step two convert it from .gme to .psx with the save converter then upload it to the Game Shark Pro thru the Game Shark Pro hacking utility. Then bam you are done and have saved some money by not buying a Dex Drive.

Witch one is better Game Shark Pro or Game Shark CDX?

I won't bull shit you about this topic I will just come out and say the Pro is way better by far. I'm sure you want to know why thou, and I will list many reasons.

1. The CDX dose not have a in game hacking menu witch allows you to hack code with out a PC, you would need a Shark link cable for the CDX.

2. The CDX Shark Links as of now are hard to find and cost around $40 but I have never seen the real price for it so I am not sure. Unlike the Pro witch only needs a simple printer cable that you can find at your local Radio Shack or computer store for $11.

3. When you start your PSX with a Pro in it will go right to the Game Shark Pro's menu but if you use a CDX you will need a special CD in the PSX in when you start up the PSX to activate the CDX. When the CDX is active you need to annoyingly change the special CD with the game you want to play.

4. Maybe it is just me but I find the CDX menu loads very slowly. Problem because the memory card slot is slower than the I/O parallel port.

5. In the Game Shark Pro hacking utility you can grab images from the PSX and put them on the PC and in some versions of the Pro hacking utility you are able to transfers saves from the PSX and the PC. The CDX on the other hand doesn't as of this point support ether the image or the save option.

6. The Pro has 120 blocks of V-MEM saves on it and all the CDX dose is take up a memory card slot.

7. You cannot turn off codes in the middle of the game with the CDX "for some codes to work it it's required to turn off the code in the middle of the game." The Pro can turn codes in the middle of the game but you do it in the hacking menu and that can be glichy. In the next Game Shark that comes out they I think they should bring the on/off switch found on the 1.x 2.x Game Sharks.

8. From what I hear from other people is that the CDX is not compatible to with newer games like Lora Croft 4 and GT2. I wouldn't know how compatible it is because I used my CDX once and never used it again.

9. The Game Shark Pro is now useable on the new 9000 series PSX. You heard me it can work with the new series but you need to buy a Game Shark port to install into the system. If you don't want to go thru all the trouble of installing a port then just get a CDX as a last resort option.

How do I connect my Game Shark to my PC?

If you have a Game Shark Pro you will need a 25 pin IEEE male to female printer cable. witch can be found at your local Radio Shack or computer store for around $11.00. To connect your Game Shark CDX you will need a Shark Link. To connect your 2.X then you will need a com link card that you can get off the internet at http://www.linux-psx.com for $26.00.

Witch Game Shark Pro version is better 3.0 3.1 3.2?

I have used a GSP ver 3.1 and 3.2. From my experience the 3.1 works OK but the in game hacking menu is some what glichy with some games like FF7. The 3.2 however in the in game hacking menu works great. I have never used a 3.0 but I know that it's in game hacking menu works like the 3.2 and has an extra fetcher. Witch is a FMV player like the ones you see on Pro Action Replay.

Can Game Shark be used as a modchip?

Well for this question I needed some help so I went to Hacken's web site and got the info. The trick to do this requires a Game Shark 2.X or a Pro but not a CDX because from what I hear the CDX can't be as used a mod chip. OK step one put a American game in the CD tray and then put a pen or spring to hold down the button that tells the playstation that it is closed. Then turn on the PSX, after the GS menu starts up, go and chouse the codes you want in the game or don't chouse codes if you don't want them. Then enter the explorer menu choose to Play CD Music option after that, the CD should stop spinning. Once it stops take the game out and put the import or backup game into the playstation. Finally exit the explorer menu and start the game as normal. It may not work the first time but just do it over till it dose.

Where is the Game Shark port in the new 9000 series PSX?

There is none they got ride of the port on the new 9000 series to cut the price of the PSX. You can buy and install a port but you need to get the port kit off the internet at http://www.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/ps-main.htm or you can get the Game Shark CDX 3.3 for $50.00. The CDX goes into the memory card port but I don't recommend getting it unless it is your only option.

Witch Game Shark version suports the FMV player?

You need a Game Shark Pro 3.0. It is the only version of Game Shark that suports the FMV player.
