Yes you can use your Game Shark Pro as a Dex Drive.Your Game Shark Pro can up load Playstation saves to your PC. The only problem is the Game Shark Pro put the saves in a .psx format. The .psx format is a format rarely used on the internet it is mainly used for backing up saves. The main format used on the internet is .gme witch is the Dex Drive format and the Game Shark Pro can't use the Dex Drive format. So now you see the dilemma but there is a solution. All you need is a little software and some hardware. For one thing you will need a Game Shark Pro of course and a 25 pin IEEE Male to Female printer cable that you can get at your local Radio Shack. Then you will need this version of the Game Shark Pro hacking utility and the key to the solution, a Playstation save converter. Once you have all of these items then you will be ready. Step one download the Dex Drive save, step two convert it from .gme to .psx with the save converter then upload it to the Game Shark Pro thru the Game Shark Pro hacking utility. Then bam you are done and have saved some money by not buying a Dex Drive.
If you have a Game Shark Pro you will need a 25 pin IEEE male to female printer cable. witch can be found at your local Radio Shack or computer store for around $11.00. To connect your Game Shark CDX you will need a Shark Link. To connect your 2.X then you will need a com link card that you can get off the internet at http://www.linux-psx.com for $26.00.
There is none they got ride of the port on the new 9000 series to cut the price of the PSX. You can buy and install a port but you need to get the port kit off the internet at http://www.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/ps-main.htm or you can get the Game Shark CDX 3.3 for $50.00. The CDX goes into the memory card port but I don't recommend getting it unless it is your only option.
If you have a 2.X or 3.X you can do it by an upgrade CD for free witch you can get by emailing Interact at upgrades@gameshark.com includ your name and return address or just get a upgrade utility at www.gameshark.com "to use the upgrade utility you will need a Sharklink or a printrer cable connecting your PSX to your PC."
